Prudence Elizabeth Ware Thompson (1816-?) was approximately four when her uncle, the folk artist Thomas Ware (1803-1827), painted her charming portrait on a panel in Pomfret, Vermont. The 16″ x 14″ painting, in its original frame, descended in the family.
